I am a young doctor in Albania. I like to believe I stand out for my communication skills and style of conduct. An idealist and highly empathetic, I am invested in the improvement of the health policy. I strongly believe in equal treatment for everyone. I completed my studies in general medicine between 2010 and 2016. I worked as a general practitioner in Kavaja for several years, before going on to specialise in Paediatrics. While attending the school of specialisation at the Medical University of Tirana, I also worked as a volunteer doctor for a few days every month in the city of Saranda, helping the community which lacked doctors. I am dedicated to the issues faced by children and young people, fighting for their rights and emancipation.

“An articulate, self-motivated, and committed individual with strong leadership and communication skills. I was selected as a Young European Ambassador (YEA) for the Western Balkans in 2020, which provided me essential international experience. Over the past six years, I have been working with local youth as well as the Roma community on advocacy, lobbying, and activism, all while studying full-time in an MSc program at the University of Tirana. I have facilitated key meetings between youth groups based in different cities and YEAs. Recently, I completed a year-long internship at the National Democratic Institute as an assistant to a prominent Member of Parliament in Albania. Additionally, I served as the Local Coordinator for a project led by the Institute for Democracy and Mediation, engaging high-school students in their communities within the framework of the School as a Community Centre Project. I was honored to receive the “”YEA of the Month 2021″” award. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 2021 with an ‘Excellence’ grade level.”

“I am Xhuljana Mucaj graduated from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, obtaining a Master of Laws as a recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. This achievement adds to my previous successes, including a degree in jurisprudence from the University of Tirana and a degree in Business Administration from the Canadian Institute of Technology. As a Young European Ambassador, I have considered this platform to champion EU values, advocate for the rule of law, the fortification of democracy, and the integrity of public institutions. Noteworthy among my initiatives is the #IDECIDE campaign, conceived to raise awareness about the importance of free and fair elections while constantly opposing the culture of vote-buying phenomenon. I am eagerly committed to supporting vulnerable youth in rural areas and proposing substantial instruments that secure the future development of rural communities.”

I am a versatile woman driven by curiosity and a passion for creativity. I hold a degree in Civil Engineering and a second degree in Restoration of Cultural Monuments, combining my love for heritage preservation with sustainable development initiatives. For the past three years, I have been part of the engineering team in the #EU4Culture program, restoring back the cultural heritage damaged by the 2019 earthquake.

In addition to my professional endeavors, I am an author with two published poetry collections. Through my personal blog, I advocate for women’s empowerment and the girls’ right to education.

Since 2020, I have been an active member of the Young European Ambassador Network, and the Entity Coordinator for YEAs in Albania for two years. In this leadership role, I have demonstrated exceptional managerial skills and organized numerous events at both Regional and European levels.

My current aspiration is to empower young people in rural areas and contribute to preserving cultural heritage as a means of fostering inclusion, equality, and a sense of belonging.
