New study examines progress on anti-racism frameworks in the Western Balkans

29 Oct 2026

A new study published through the European Union and Council of Europe’s joint cooperation framework examines progress and remaining gaps in anti-racism frameworks across the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership regions.

The study, presented through the Horizontal Facility programme, provides a regional perspective on efforts to strengthen protections against racism and discrimination.

For the Western Balkan partners, improving anti-discrimination frameworks is an important part of strengthening fundamental rights, equality and inclusive democratic institutions, as well as advancing reforms connected to European integration.

The study offers a resource for policymakers, public institutions and civil society organisations working to identify remaining challenges and support further improvements in the protection of human rights.
