'Environmental Governance for the Western Balkans Green Agenda' is a project focused on strengthening the environmental rule of law, institutional accountability, and public participation in environmental protection in North Macedonia. The action supports the implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans and alignment with EU environmental standards through legal analysis, policy advocacy, institutional capacity building, and civic engagement.

The project develops analyses and policy recommendations related to environmental legislation, environmental crime, biodiversity protection, air quality, renewable energy, and climate governance. It also strengthens cooperation among institutions, civil society organisations, academia, and media through the Environmental Justice Platform.

In parallel, the project enhances the capacities of judges, prosecutors, inspectors, and law enforcement institutions through specialised training and educational programmes. Through a re-granting scheme, local civil society organisations receive financial and mentoring support for environmental initiatives and advocacy activities. The project additionally contributes to international environmental governance by monitoring the implementation of UNESCO and Bern Convention recommendations related to the Ohrid Region and protected natural areas.

• To enhance cooperation and structured dialogue between civil society organisations, institutions, academia, media, and international partners through the Environmental Justice Platform.
• To support civil society organisations in advocacy, watchdog activities, and local environmental initiatives addressing key environmental challenges.
• To improve transparency, public awareness, and access to environmental justice, including monitoring of internationally protected sites such as the Ohrid Region.
