Total funding available 1 100 000,00 € Project acronym ENFIELD Full name of the EU funded project ENFIELD: European Lighthouse to Manifest Trustworthy and Green AI Grant agreement number 101120657 Topic HORIZON-CL4-2022-HUMAN-02-02 - European Network of AI Excellence Centres: Expanding the European AI lighthouse (RIA) Submission & evaluation process TYPE OF BENEFICIARY The following types of entities are invited to submit their innovative research or application ideas: Private-for-profit companies (including start-ups, SMEs, and large companies) established in an eligible country, section 3.1.2. A beneficiary is qualified as an SME as defined in the EU recommendation 2003/361. Research Centres (legal entities) established in an eligible country, section 3.1.2. The ENFIELD – Innovation Scheme Open Call will fund projects implemented by one (1) legal entity or groups of a minimum of 2 legal entities that are eligible under Horizon Europe rules. Applicants (legal entity or group of legal entities) can submit multiple applications, but only one of them can be funded within the open call. Applications will not be accepted from entities who are partners (beneficiaries) or linked-third parties in the ENFIELD consortium members or who are formally linked in any way to the partners/linked-third parties of the consortium. ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES Entities established in EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries only. APPLICATION PROCESS The application process is described in detail in the Guide for Applicants available at https://www.enfield-project.eu/open_calls and proposals must be submitted by completing the Application Form online, here: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/oc1-2025-TIS-01. Applicants are required to apply online and answer all mandatory questions (with no exception) of the Application Form and must include a Budget Overview for the implementation of their proposal. The budget template can be found here: https://www.enfield-project.eu/open_calls. It is strongly recommended not to wait until the last minute to submit the proposal. Failure of the proposal to arrive in time for any reason, including network communications delays or working from multiple browsers or multiple browser windows, is not acceptable as an extenuating circumstance. Late submissions are not permitted. The time of receipt of the application as recorded by the submission system will be definitive. PROPOSAL EVALUATION An initial eligibility verification will be done to filter out and discard non-eligible proposals. Proposals considered eligible will move on to the evaluation phase. The evaluation will be done remotely by one senior expert from ENFIELD partners industry organizations and two external senior experts. The proposals will be scored (between 0- fail and 5- excellent) based on the criteria below: 1) Advanced state of the art: The extent to which the proposal is beyond the state-of-the-art and presents an innovative approach behind it (e.g., novel concepts and approaches) linked to the industrial use cases in energy, healthcare, manufacturing, or space. 2) Soundness of the technical approach: Credibility of the proposed methodology for the implementation of the project. 3) Dissemination and communication: Effectiveness of the proposed measures to exploit and disseminate the project results which must include methods (publications, presentations, workshops and/or webinars) and targeted audiences. 4) Technical, creative, and business capacities: i) Demonstration of competences and skills of the project team and its capacity to carry out the activities of the proposal: ii) Quality and effectiveness of the resources assigned to the proposal; iii) Track-record of the team in similar projects. In case of an application submitted by a consortium, complementarity of partners. Each criterion will be scored between 0 and 5. The threshold for each criterion is 3, and the overall score threshold is 12. Show less Further information A total budget of 1.100.000 € is allocated by ENFIELD for funding the participation of at least 18 beneficiaries in Innovation Schemes. This second call is expected to select 10 beneficiaries. The consortium reserves the right not to award all available funds or to redistribute them between the open calls planned within the project, depending on the applications received and the results of the evaluation. Successful applicants will receive a grant that cannot surpass 60.000€ (when the beneficiaries are private-for‐profit organizations, the exact amount of financial support to be granted as a lump sum will be calculated as 70% of the eligible cost). The grant will be paid as follows: 50% with grant signature + 50% with expected outcomes/deliverables. Task description Through the ENFIELD Innovation Scheme open calls, the project aims to attract research/industry partners to conduct applied research related to specific scientific/technological challenges within the industrial domains of energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and space, contributing to the creation of the ENFIELD network and the adoption of AI technologies to boost overall EU competitiveness. TRL of activities to be implemented: TRL3-TRL6.
