The EU is a community of shared values and laws. Democracy, equality, justice… and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms are the cornerstones of the EU project. The same values and conditions apply to aspiring EU members.
That’s why the EU supports its Western Balkan partners in implementing reforms to strengthen and improve their democratic institutions and justice systems. This goes hand-in-hand with support for civil society, independent media and protecting human rights.
Youth4Regions is the European Commission’s initiative designed to educate journalism students and young journalists about the EU’s impact in their regions. The programme offers comprehensive training, mentorship with top journalists, participation in EU Regions’ Week, and visits to EU media headquarters and institutions, along with a chance to join European Commission press trips. All accommodation, food, and travel expenses are covered by the programme. Applicants should have a keen interest in EU activities, a background in journalism (through education or up to 2 years of professional experience), be citizens of the EU or neighbouring countries aged between 18 and 30, and be available from 5 to 11 October 2024. The application period is open from 8 April until 8 July, 17:00 CET. Interested candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in journalism to be eligible.
