Civil Society in Action for environment protection and sustainable urban development – CSA
Project Description
The “Civil Society in Action for Environment Protection and Sustainable Urban Development – CSA” project supports local civil society organisations in North Macedonia to actively contribute to environmental reforms and the implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans as part of the country’s EU integration process.
The action focuses on strengthening grassroots CSOs and Local Action Groups in the Pelagonia region, enabling them to advocate for sustainable and green development policies at a local level. Through capacity-building activities, technical support, and community engagement, the project enhances the ability of local organisations to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable urban development.
A key component of the project is the establishment of a pilot waste management model in the Markovi Kuli Protected Area and surrounding buffer zones. The initiative promotes circular economy practices and green jobs through the active inclusion of the Roma community, implemented in cooperation with the Municipality of Prilep. By combining environmental protection, social inclusion, and civic participation, the project contributes to stronger local governance and more sustainable community development.
