YEAs Take Part in Born2run Race in Kumanovo, North Macedonia
For the sixth consecutive year, the City of Kumanovo proudly hosted the Born2run marathon in November. This beloved tradition is enthusiastically embraced by the local community, especially the youth. The marathon's central mission is to promote coexistence and trust through sports, successfully uniting people of all backgrounds in the city and transcending ethnic divides. It exemplifies Kumanovo's steadfast commitment to celebrating its rich multi-ethnic society and the diversity that defines it. As the largest municipality in the Republic of North Macedonia, Kumanovo serves as a shining example of ethnic diversity, with its population comprising Macedonian, Albanian, Serbian, Roma, Turkish, and Vlach communities.
The race, held on November 11, 2023, coinciding with the Day of the Liberation of Kumanovo, featured two categories: a 3km marathon and a 10km marathon. Notably, members of the Regional Center for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities “Poraka Nasha” from Kumanovo participated as special guests in support of the event's noble cause.
The Center for Intercultural Dialogue (CID), a prominent NGO dedicated to promoting intercultural acceptance and active citizenship in Macedonia for over 16 years, deserves special recognition as the primary organizer of this event. CID, in collaboration with Europe House Kriva Palanka, ensured the successful execution of the marathon.
