Empowering Youth Through Knowledge: YEA Andrea Darabašić Hosts Labour Law Workshop in Belgrade

On June 21st, Young European Ambassador (YEA) Andrea Darabašić hosted an insightful and hands-on event titled “Know Your Rights: Labour Law 101 for Young Professionals” at Europe House Belgrade. The workshop, organized in collaboration with Mina Kuzminac, assistant professor at the Faculty of Law, aimed to equip young people with a better understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities in the workplace.

Bringing together 20 participants- from university students to early-career professionals- the event created a space for learning, discussion, and peer exchange. The first part featured a 45-minute presentation by Professor Kuzminac, covering the foundations of labour law in Serbia. From understanding employment contracts and workplace obligations to identifying legal protections and rights, the session highlighted key knowledge every young professional should have.

The second half of the event shifted into an interactive workshop, where participants engaged with real-life examples, analyzed sample contracts, and tackled common challenges such as salary negotiations, workplace exploitation, and navigating probation or termination procedures. By working in small groups, attendees not only deepened their understanding of legal protections but also gained confidence to advocate for themselves in professional settings.

This practical and empowering session is a strong example of how Young European Ambassadors like Andrea are bridging knowledge gaps and helping their peers enter the job market more informed and resilient.
