Arts and culture, Human rights
My name is Sanja and I am a feminist activist and an author. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Comparative Literature and I am currently on master’s studies. I volunteer at IRIDA, a feminist organization for gender equality education aiming to prevent gender-based violence. I feel most passionate about raising awareness about gender equality through creative writing. I have been leading a project ‘I ovo je nasilje’ (This Is Violence Too) and writing short stories on psychological partner violence. Women’s rights are still very much under threat in our region. This is supported by the high rate of femicide. I believe education to be the foundation for equal and violence-intolerant society and that is why I strive to keep informing the youth about these topics through writing. I look forward to working with others in the network to combine our activism and creativity in order to make positive change.
