From 11–13 June 2025, Dragana Vučković, Young European Ambassador (YEA) and Advisory Board Member of the Initiative Group Alpbach Sarajevo (IGAS), took part in the prestigious Europa-Forum Wachau in Krems, Austria. Held across historic and symbolic venues, including Göttweig Abbey and a boat on the Danube, the forum brought together leaders from politics, civil society, and academia to explore Europe’s path forward.
Under the theme “Facing Challenges – Embracing Visions,” Dragana immersed herself in a space where generations, ideas, and perspectives converged. Representing both the WeBalkans network and the Western Balkans youth, she actively contributed to conversations that spanned European integration, Ukraine’s recovery, and the role of dialogue in bridging divides.
One of the most memorable moments came during the Erasmus+ Student Talk, where young voices from across Europe shared their views on the EU’s future. Standing alongside students and decision-makers, Dragana reflected on how mobility, dialogue, and education remain crucial for empowering youth and fostering unity across borders.
Another standout experience unfolded aboard the MS Austria during the Danube Salon. Floating down the river while discussing how to confront rising polarization may seem poetic, but it was deeply symbolic. Surrounded by thought leaders, historians, and storytellers, Dragana contributed to a discussion that reminded everyone in the room (or rather, on the boat) that listening is as vital as speaking, and that empathy must guide Europe’s next steps.
In the plenary sessions, where European and Ukrainian officials explored visions for a united and resilient Europe, Dragana brought a youth perspective to the table- not just as an observer, but as a future leader determined to shape the continent’s course.
“My engagement at the Europa-Forum Wachau was a testament to the value of youth voices in Europe’s transformation. It was inspiring to be part of conversations that shape the future, together with policymakers, academics, and fellow young leaders,” shared Dragana.
Her presence echoed the forum’s core mission: bridging generations and empowering young people to be active participants in shaping Europe’s tomorrow.
