Innovation in motion: YEAs at the forefront of Web Summit 2025

This year’s Web Summit in Lisbon brought together one of the most dynamic communities in global tech, offering a space where innovators, policymakers, investors, and creatives exchanged ideas shaping the future of digital society. From 10–13 November, thousands of participants, from startups to major companies, civil society organizations and academic institutions, gathered to explore the latest trends in digital transformation, sustainability, and global cooperation.

The Young European Ambassadors network was represented by four delegates from the Western Balkans, Danilo Bulatović, Uroš Šestović, Teodora Jolakoska, and Ramanda Shehu. Throughout the summit, they attended high-level talks, panel discussions, workshops, and networking activities, connecting with leaders and young change-makers from around the world.

Over four days, the YEAs explored sessions on artificial intelligence, public policy, creativity, and emerging technologies while meeting entrepreneurs in the startup exhibition area. They visited national pavilions from Kosovo, Montenegro, and Serbia, strengthening ties with regional innovators and institutions, and took part in Night Summit events that opened the door to many meaningful exchanges.

One of the most striking insights came from the discussions around the European Commission’s AI Act. While Europe continues to lead in setting ethical and legal standards for artificial intelligence, the rapid development of AI shows that technology moves faster than regulation. As one speaker pointed out, “AI is too fast and dynamic, but Europe is not so fast.” Throughout the event, speakers stressed the importance of ethical standards, collaboration, and human-centered design to ensure technology benefits society as a whole.

YEAs returned with valuable insights, new partnerships, and strengthened connections across Europe’s innovation ecosystem. Their participation reinforced the role of young people as active contributors to digital progress and regional technology cooperation.
