Ana Marija Jovanova

My name is Ana Marija, and I am a 19-year-old student of Psychotherapy at the University of Goce Delcev. I am a young activist and I have participated in a variety of seminars, courses, workshops, Erasmus projects, etc. I volunteer at local events and I am a member of the NGO Novus. I began organizing events for young people with the goal of raising awareness about the importance of mental health and well-being. The event involved around 120 young people discussing youth problems, which are still seen as taboo topics. Believing it would make a great impact, I started planning this kind of event regularly. This summer, I was one of the organizers of the August Youth Festival in Strumica. Through the pilot program, actively involving young people in the work of the institutions and giving them the possibility to offer advice and proposals, I also had the chance to serve as a mayor for a day. It was an incredible experience. 

I am happiest when I can make a difference in my community and assist others in overcoming obstacles, including social barriers.
