Biography

“My name is Amila Memić, I’m from Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have a BA in Law and I’m currently pursuing a LL.M. degree in Civil Law, with a curriculum that includes various EU-dedicated courses. I have been recognized as one of the best students with the Dean’s Award for academic excellence.
Currently I work as a legal intern at the Municipal Court Mostar and I’m member of EDYN (European Democracy Youth Network).
An important part of my educational journey has been marked by volunteering in UNICEF’s law clinic ‘Pravda za svako dijete’ (‘Justice for Every Child’), focused on children’s rights and providing free legal aid to underprivileged citizens. Projects like this are crucial for our society because a significant number of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina do not have access to courts.
In addition, I have participated in numerous domestic and foreign conferences, winter&summer schools and projects, such as the UNHCR’s Refugee Law Clinic, USAID and Emmaus’ Victim-centred Approach to Prevention of Trafficking in Persons in BiH, Student Law Practicum – National Centre for state courts in BiH, OSCE II School of Media Law on freedom of expression on social media, European Youth Parliament Days 2019, and UNIGEM Winter School on gender and globalization. I am also the author of a scientific paper published by the University of Sarajevo and TPO Foundation. European values have always been a significant part of my journey. I truly believe in the importance of the rule of law, EU values, and EU integration, as they can contribute to correcting flaws in our legal and judicial system, helping our economy flourish, and stopping the brain drain of youth.
As a Young European Ambassador, third generation, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in various workshops and events, such as the European Youth Event in Strasbourg, IYC Kruševo, Right to Justice, YEA Summit, serve as a panelist at several events, and lead two Media and Information Literacy workshops in two primary schools in Mostar.”
