From 2 to 8 November, YEAs Maja Trajković, Tarik Bičo, and Ivan Durgutov represented the Young European Ambassadors network at the World Forum for Democracy 2025, as part of the official youth delegation composed of 50 young people.
This flagship event gathered global experts and youth leaders to exchange ideas, experiences and accelerate thought leadership on reviving democracy and reimagining active participation through creative expression.
During the forum, YEAs attended sessions exploring how art, culture, media, and technology influence democratic participation. They heard compelling insights on the role of artistic expression in defending civic freedoms, the impact of social media and AI on public trust, and the responsibility of creative industries in amplifying diverse voices. Discussions on civic education further highlighted the need for systems that foster empathy, digital literacy, and active citizenship.
Across all sessions, a shared theme emerged: democracy is sustained through creativity, empathy, and education. For YEAs, the forum was a reminder that youth voices from the Western Balkans belong on global democratic stages, and that our region’s cultural and social diversity is one of its strongest democratic assets.
