Yes, you are required to provide documentation demonstrating your B2 English proficiency. Acceptable documents include internationally recognised certificates (such as Cambridge Exams - FCE, CAE, CPE) or an official certificate from your local English school / Signed letter from your English teacher at an academic institution you are attending (school/university).
While not a mandatory skill, proficiency in social media and video content creation is highly welcome. As YEAs are unique communicators who engage with peers (youth-to-youth), creatively using social media platforms can significantly enhance your ability to reach and connect with your peers.

Yes. To be eligible, you must be a citizen of one of the Western Balkans countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, or Serbia) but you can currently reside in one of the 27 EU Member states.
Yes, you can engage in political activities; however, it is very important to separate your political role from your YEA responsibilities. The YEA programme is a non-political initiative and does not affiliate with or support any political parties.
YEA network has established specific guidelines regarding this and you will be introduced to them once you become a member. As Young European Ambassadors role is to embody and promote the values of the European Union, your participation in political protests should reflect a commitment to democracy, human rights, and peaceful advocacy.
Yes, individuals in government or political positions may apply. However, it is crucial to understand that your role cannot be associated with the YEA network, as clarified in the previous question.
YEAs are volunteers and do not receive payment for their engagements. However, allowances for study-trips and travel expenses will be provided.

The YEA mandate lasts until the age of 35, at which point you will transition to YEA Alumni status.

No, there are no costs for you to cover. Expenses related to YEA activities that will be covered during your term include transportation costs, meals, accommodation and any implementation costs related to the organisation of the specific YEA activity.
The YEA network works with other organizations by teaming up with NGOs, government bodies, and schools to boost their skills and connections. They set up these partnerships with clear agreements and regular updates to make sure both sides benefit and support EU integration in the Western Balkans. You are encouraged to propose collaborative partnerships through specific activities, and your entity coordinator will provide further guidance on the process once you join the network.
Absolutely! Collaboration is encouraged within the YEA network, and working together on joint projects is a vital component of the programme. One example of a collaboration between YEAs is the Workshop, check it out here.
YEAs can network with peers, mentors, and partners and participate in capacity-building and educational events. New YEAs will also have mentoring support from experienced peers through our Twins programme.
No prior experience is required; however, strong motivation and a clear vision for activism are essential.
We encourage actions that support vulnerable minority groups, promote gender equality, foster environmental initiatives, and advocate for discriminated communities within our societies. Additionally, we welcome innovative ideas from young entrepreneurs and initiatives focusing on agriculture, economy, transport, connectivity, and more.

Yes, you are welcome to reapply in subsequent years if you are not selected.
The Volunteer Agreement is a legally binding agreement between the participant and the WeBalkans management team setting out all duties and promises on both sides. The 97 newly selected members of the YEA network are required to sign the Volunteer Agreement. Please note that the Volunteer Agreement should not be construed and is not intended to form an employment relationship with the YEAs now, or at any time in the future.
