• How do I apply?

  To take part, you need to complete an application form and make a simple 1-minute video. Stay tuned for future Calls for Applications.

• Does the COVID-19 pandemic have an impact on the Young European Ambassadors application and selection process?

  No, there is no impact. This is because the whole application and selection process is taking place online. On the contrary, your participation, activism and enthusiasm can only inspire youth all over the Western Balkans to be drivers of positive change and productive work online.

• Do I have to pay a fee to participate?

  No, participation is free.

• What are the criteria for participation?

  You must meet a set of eligibility criteria listed in Article 3 of the Terms and Conditions.

• How will my application be evaluated?

  Please refer to the Phase 3 - Evaluation of the Applications and Article 3 of the Terms & Conditions.

• Can I cancel my application and withdraw at any time?

  Yes, you just need to submit your request to withdraw from the contest to [email protected]

• Can I cancel my participation and withdraw from the YEA network at any time?

  You may leave the project, subject to the provisions in your Volunteer Agreement.

• How is my English language level assessed? Do I need to provide a certificate?

  No, we do not require a formal certificate. Your English proficiency will be assessed based on your video and your application form and should correspond to the Common European Framework Reference for Languages B2 and above. In the event that the YEA project team concludes that your English language proficiency does not match that expressed/recorded in your application, it reserves the right to disqualify your participation.

• Are holidays in EU countries considered as ‘EU travel experience’ for the purposes of the selection procedure?

  No, ‘EU travel experience’ only refers to travel undertaken for educational purposes, not leisure.

• Do projects/workshops/seminars I have attended in my home country count as EU projects?
  If so, will this reduce my chances of being selected?

  The Young European Ambassadors initiative is committed to diversity and attracting candidates from all backgrounds. In particular, we would like to encourage young people who may not have had previous opportunities to take part in EU projects to apply for YEA. Therefore, your attendance of the above-listed events will not reduce your chances to become YEA, but the advantage will be given to your peers with less experience in training and exchange opportunities.

• Do I have to be proficient in the production of video/online content?

  Moderate skills are required as you will be doing much of your activism via social media and online tools

• Do I need to have social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Tik Tok) to participate?

  Yes – Facebook and Instagram (open profiles) are required, Twitter is an asset and other networks are optional.

• What is the Volunteer Agreement, and is it legally binding?

  The Volunteer Agreement is a mutual agreement between the participant and the YEA project team setting out all duties and promises on both sides. The 60 selected members of the YEA Network are required to sign the Volunteer Agreement. This Agreement is not legally binding and may be terminated upon mutual consent.

• If I am selected, what happens next?

  The 60 selected members of the YEA are introduced to each other on the orientation session, where they receive a welcome information pack, an orientation session for communication tools used as a YEA, along with a plan and programme detailing their participation in the project.
