Biography

My name is Olta Shehu and I am a 19-year-old girl dreaming to become a successful life-saving doctor one day. I currently live in Tirana where I am pursuing my dream to study medicine, in the University of Medicine in Tirana (UMT). However, I am originally from Peshkopi, a small and beautiful town in the Northern Albania.

When I was in middle school I joined Save the Children and World Vision as a volunteer, two international organisations that protect children’s rights around the world. I really liked being part of a team where the key of solving different obstacles was working in group and believing in each other.

Even after coming to a boarding high school in Tirana due to winning a full-ride scholarship in Medreseja e Tiranes, I didn’t stop my commitment to community service and civic engagement. I volunteered in a charity organization called “Fundjave Ndryshe” and an invironmental organisation named “Shqiperia Ndryshe”. I was also the representative of my classroom for three years straight in the school senate.

I love spending time playing the piano, performing theatre parts in different activities in my hometown or back in high school, reading books as well as writing poems and often sharing them with my online friends.
