Biography

I am Alek Barović, a Montenegrin political scientist, columnist, and civil activist. Currently, I am a PhD candidate in the field of Human Rights at the University of Padua, Italy, focusing on genocide studies. I hold two master’s degrees, one in International Humanitarian Action and Armed Conflicts (from University College Dublin and the University of Warsaw) and another in Political Science (from the University of Montenegro). My engagement revolves around studying genocide, Holocaust, interfaith dialogue, religiously motivated violence, and peacebuilding.

I am a regular weekly columnist for the oldest Montenegrin online media outlet (Portal Analitika), writing about political and social topics. I am also a member of the G20 Interfaith Forum’s anti-racism committee.

My expertise has led me to speak at numerous conferences across Europe, the United States, Africa, and Asia. I have authored one book and several significant scholarly works published in some of the most prestigious academic journals, such as Oxford University Press.

Throughout my career, I have conducted research at numerous prestigious universities, including University College London, East Africa Catholic University, and Masaryk University, among others.

You can often find me as a regular guest on numerous regional television networks and other media outlets, where I provide commentary on regional and international political events.”
