On 24 September, Banja Luka became the gathering place for young people eager to learn more about health, prevention, and breaking down stigma. Our YEA Marija Malić organized an interactive workshop designed for youth aged 15 to 26, focusing on one of the most important health topics of our time – the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
The workshop, led by an invited medical expert, gave participants a chance to explore what HPV is, how it is linked to different forms of cancer, and why vaccination remains the most effective way of prevention. Special attention was devoted to confronting stigma, dispelling misinformation, and creating a safe environment where young people could ask questions openly.
The initiative not only strengthened knowledge but also fostered dialogue among peers, reminding everyone that informed youth are empowered youth. With strong support from local partners such as American Corner Banja Luka and Interact Club Banja Luka, the event showed how cooperation between youth networks, institutions, and communities can make a lasting difference.
Through this effort, Marija demonstrated how the Young European Ambassadors initiative can bridge information gaps, inspire confidence, and promote healthier futures, one workshop, one conversation, one young person at a time.
