On 18th February, 16 Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from Bosnia and Herzegovina met with EU Ambassador Luigi Soreca for a productive and inspiring discussion. Ambassador Soreca opened the meeting with the statement, “The first week I arrived, I asked where are the YEAs,” setting a welcoming and enthusiastic tone for the session.
Ambassador Soreca brings a strong history of collaboration with YEAs, having worked closely with the network in Albania during his previous role as EU Ambassador there. The YEAs expressed their hope to continue this cooperation with the same energy and intensity under his leadership in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Throughout the meeting, Ambassador Soreca emphasized the importance of two-way collaboration with the YEAs, combining his experience with the fresh ideas and activism of young people. He welcomed the YEAs into the “EU Delegation family” and committed to involving them in activities to help communicate people’s needs effectively. His determination to foster collaboration was underscored by his statement, “I count on you as much as possible to bring BiH closer to the EU.”
The YEAs introduced themselves, showcasing their diverse backgrounds, talents, and aspirations. Discussions focused on challenges facing young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, potential YEA involvement in EU Delegation work, and the Ambassador’s priorities for his first year.
The atmosphere during the meeting was positive and energetic, with both sides expressing enthusiasm for future cooperation. The YEAs look forward to building on this meeting and working closely with Ambassador Soreca to support Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path towards the European Union.
