This year’s 16 days of activism against gender-based violence were marked by the global theme “UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls,” highlighting the growing impact of online abuse, harassment, and everyday sexism. Throughout this period, the Young European Ambassadors network organized a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about digital gender-based violence and empowering young people to take action within their local communities. By combining online advocacy with offline engagement, YEAs emphasized the crucial role that young people can play in promoting equality, respect, and human rights.
As part of these efforts, WeBalkans partnered with the Council of Europe to promote their anti-sexism campaign “See it. Name it. Stop it.” A key highlight of this collaboration was an engaging and interactive anti-sexism wall installation placed in the Europe Houses in Belgrade and Podgorica. Designed in striking black and orange, the wall invited visitors to leave personal messages, thoughts, and reflections. The installation served as a powerful visual reminder of the realities of sexism and gender-based violence, while underscoring the importance of solidarity, awareness, and collective responsibility in supporting women and girls.
Alongside these public installations, YEAs took an active role in creating online content, including reels and social media posts, to raise public awareness about gender-based violence and everyday sexism. Through their messages, they helped spark conversations beyond physical spaces and reach wider audiences. The campaign concluded on Human Rights Day with a recap video produced by YEAs, highlighting key moments from their engagement in activities throughout the year and their ongoing commitment to uphold human rights protection – a powerful reminder that the fight against gender-based violence is not limited to 16 days, but requires sustained action, solidarity, and courage every single day.
