Under the motto “All for Kochani – We Run Together”, and in the spirit of unity and solidarity, humanitarian races were organized across seven cities in North Macedonia on 25 May 2025, as part of the celebrations marking Europe Day. These races aimed to not only promote a healthy and active lifestyle, but also to channel the power of community engagement towards a noble cause.
The Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) proudly took part in the races organized in Skopje, Bitola, and Strumica, joining hundreds of other citizens who came together to support the victims and families affected by the devastating fire that struck Kochani in March. The tragedy left deep scars on the local community, and this event served as a meaningful gesture of support and empathy for those still recovering.
Despite unfavorable weather conditions, including persistent rain, the YEAs demonstrated admirable determination and commitment. They completed the 5 km races in each city, embodying the values of solidarity, civic responsibility, and social activism. Their participation was not just a symbolic act, but a tangible contribution to a humanitarian effort that seeks to bring relief and hope to those in need.
The event was organized by the Delegation of the European Union in Skopje, in collaboration with the Europe Houses located in Skopje, Bitola, Strumica, Tetovo, Struga, Kriva Palanka, and Veles. It was also supported by the resident embassies of the EU members states. Through this initiative, the EU and its partners reaffirmed their support for local communities and their commitment to standing with citizens in times of hardship.
Such actions reflect the true spirit of Europe Day- solidarity, unity, and a shared sense of purpose across borders. The participation of the YEAs in these races further highlights their role not only as youth ambassadors of European values, but also as active contributors to their local communities.
