Empowering Mediterranean youth through dialogue, policy, and cooperation

The 4th Mediterranean Youth Academy took place from 13-16 November in Nice, France, bringing together young participants from across the region for an intensive program of learning, exchange, and policy-oriented work. The Young European Ambassadors network was actively represented during this flagship event by YEAs Ada Omuri, Artina Haziri, Bogdan Malavrazić, Debora Kolgegaj and Ivan Durgutov.

The academy opened with introductory sessions outlining its objectives and institutional framework, including presentations of the Young European Ambassadors Network, Erasmus+ initiatives, and Mediterranean cooperation programs. These sessions set the foundation for collaboration and familiarized participants with existing regional and European youth structures.

During the second and third days, participants engaged in thematic work through three clusters: Climate Action & Justice, Gender Equity & Transformation, and Youth Employment & Entrepreneurship. Each group took part in specific workshops led by experienced experts, addressing topics such as loss and damage mechanisms, structural discrimination, smart entrepreneurship, just energy transition, and market readiness for young people. Alongside the workshops, participants received continuous technical guidance on drafting policy briefs, complemented by panel discussions, regional program presentations, and daily reflection sessions that encouraged critical thinking and peer exchange.

The final day focused on advanced thematic discussions and the consolidation of policy briefs, with workshops on climate finance, gender and social inclusion, and youth entrepreneurship. Overall, this event proved to be a valuable and insightful capacity-building experience for the YEAs and other young participants, sparking constructive dialogue and accelerating thought leadership for community-centered advocacy efforts.
