Celebrating Women and Girls in STEM: YEAs’ Impact Across Communities

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science was celebrated across the Young European Ambassadors (YEA) network, highlighting the importance of gender equality in STEM. Despite progress, women and girls still face barriers in these fields.

To mark the day, YEAs launched a regional online campaign showcasing girls in STEM, with inspiring Instagram reels encouraging young girls to pursue scientific careers. YEAs also hosted local activities, such as experiments, panel discussions, and outreach in their communities.

In Kosovo, Jora Zeneli led a STEM hour at the Finnish School, while Adna Mujić visited the Egyptian Red Crescent Children’s Home in Mostar, sharing stories of inspiring women scientists. Edlira Dibrani in Kosovo emphasized mentorship and education with Deputy EU Ambassador Ms. Eva Palatova, and Veronika Gijovska in North Macedonia organized a networking event for female students in STEM.

In Montenegro, YEAs participated in the #WomenInnovate campaign with Women4Cyber Montenegro. These initiatives showcase the YEA network’s commitment to empowering women and girls in STEM, striving for gender equality in the field.

These efforts across the region reflect the YEA network’s dedication to empowering women and girls in science, working toward a future where gender equality in STEM is not just an aspiration, but the norm.
