#YEStoYEA
The Western Balkans as a region is very rich in natural goods, but still heavily dependent on aging coal-fired power plants and suffers from high levels of air pollution.
The EU has been supporting a more connected and cleaner energy market in the Western Balkans for many years. Between 2015 and 2020, the EU provided several grants to energy and transport projects channelled through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) – a donor investment platform that pools funds from various sources, including the European Commission. More information about the energy projects financed through WBIF from 2009 can be explored by checking this link.
The Green Agenda for the Western Balkans launched in 2020 by the European Commission defines the main priorities in terms of greening the region, including its transition to clean energy.
The Young European Ambassadors are going to visit Energy Efficient Laboratories in each Western Balkan partner and learn and experience them first hand.
Our Young European Ambassadors will spread to their peers tips and hacks on smart living and using electric power in the most energy efficient way, information about energy efficiency and how it affects the usage of the appliances, recycling and benefits of regular recycling habits.
The visits across the Western Balkans will happen in the following locations and with following partners:
Serbia – Novi Sad, 29 March, University of Novi Sad and NGO Cap for a smile
