Democracy, equality, justice\u2026 and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms are the cornerstones of the EU project. The same values and conditions apply to aspiring EU members.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Democracy-and-fundamental-rights-.jpeg\" alt=\"Democracy and fundamental rights\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>That\u2019s why the EU supports its Western Balkan partners in implementing reforms to strengthen and improve their democratic institutions and justice systems.
