{"id":940081,"date":"2022-12-19T18:37:13","date_gmt":"2022-12-19T17:37:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/?p=940081"},"modified":"2022-12-19T18:37:13","modified_gmt":"2022-12-19T17:37:13","slug":"commission-publishes-new-report-on-culture-for-sustainable-development-in-eu-actions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/en\/news\/commission-publishes-new-report-on-culture-for-sustainable-development-in-eu-actions\/","title":{"rendered":"Commission publishes new report on culture for sustainable development in EU actions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The European Commission published on 9 December 2022 a report on the cultural dimension of sustainable development in EU actions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The report emphasises the indispensable role that culture plays in the implementation of EU policies, programmes and initiatives related to the<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/2030agenda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UN\u2019s 2030 Agenda on sustainable development<\/a>. The Commission identifies key areas where it would be strategic to reinforce the collaboration with cultural and creative sectors as to leverage sustainable development. It explains from different perspectives and policies, how uniquely positioned the cultural and creative sectors are to interpret and put in place the economic, social and environmental dimensions of the 2030 Agenda. The EU Voluntary Review on the implementation of sustainable development goals, to be presented to the UN High-level Forum mid-2023, can benefit from the suggestions contained in the report.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The report also complements and addresses some of the recommendations of the Open method of coordination (OMC) working group of member states on the cultural dimension of sustainable development, which published its<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/op.europa.eu\/en\/publication-detail\/-\/publication\/0380f31c-37c9-11ed-9c68-01aa75ed71a1\/language-en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report \u2018Stormy times. Nature and humans: cultural courage for change\u2019<\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>on 20 September 2022. It also follows up on the results from UNESCO\u2019s<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\/mondiacult2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MONDIACULT 2022<\/a>conference, which called for culture to be included as a specific objective in its own right among the next United Nations Development
