United against violence against women \u2013 this is the slogan of this year\u2019s global campaign for 16 days of activism \u2013\u00a0Orange the World<\/a>. The colour orange united the basketball players of Crvena zvezda and Partizan, who met this month for the first time for a derby in the best European basketball competition \u2013 the Euroleague. The captains of the two Belgrade teams recorded a joint video message:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cViolence against women \u2013 it must stop. It is our duty to protect all women: mothers, sisters, wives, friends\u2026 Report violence immediately \u2013 there are no excuses! Let\u2019s help those who suffer violence. A bully is a coward \u2013 let\u2019s be brave. Let\u2019s protect the victims\u201d. The players were joined by the Serbian national team coach Svetislav Pe\u0161i\u0107, as well as Partizan coach \u017deljko Obradovi\u0107.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Every third woman, both in the European Union and around the world, has experienced physical, sexual, socio-economic and\/or verbal violence at least once in her life. Gender-based discrimination, sexual harassment and gender-based violence are issues of basic human rights. This year, the EU Delegation in Serbia joins the<\/em>\u00a0global campaign of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence<\/a><\/em>\u00a0by promoting empowered women and through cooperation with the wider community against physical, verbal and socio-economic violence.<\/em><\/p>\n

During this global campaign, the EU Delegation in Serbia\u00a0 partnered with personalities from Serbia in the spheres of fashion, art, sports, literature, and cinema.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
