{"id":903980,"date":"2022-12-05T17:21:59","date_gmt":"2022-12-05T16:21:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/?p=903980"},"modified":"2022-12-05T17:22:15","modified_gmt":"2022-12-05T16:22:15","slug":"migration-routes-commission-proposes-action-plan-for-cooperation-with-western-balkans-to-address-common-challenges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/en\/news\/migration-routes-commission-proposes-action-plan-for-cooperation-with-western-balkans-to-address-common-challenges\/","title":{"rendered":"Migration routes: Commission proposes Action Plan for cooperation with Western Balkans to address common challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Summit of 6 December 2022 and the Justice and Home Affairs Council on 8 December, the Commission is presenting an<a href=\"https:\/\/home-affairs.ec.europa.eu\/whats-new\/publications\/eu-action-plan-western-balkans_en\">\u00a0EU Action Plan on the Western Balkans<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/ip_22_7447\">.<\/a>\u00a0This Action Plan follows up on the Extraordinary Justice and Home Affairs Council (Home Affairs) of 25 November, where Ministers committed to implement the EU Action Plan on the Central Mediterranean, proposed by the Commission on 21 November.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0Action Plan on the Western Balkans identifies\u00a020 operational measures<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>structured along\u00a05 pillars: (1) strengthening border management along the routes; (2) swift asylum procedures and support reception capacity; (3) fighting migrant smuggling; (4) enhancing readmission cooperation and returns as well as (5) achieving visa policy alignment. The measures are focused on support to or actions by Western Balkan partners, and action in the EU. It aims to strengthen the cooperation on migration and border management with partners in Western Balkans in light of their unique status with EU accession perspective and their continued efforts to
