{"id":6926,"date":"2021-04-05T09:41:28","date_gmt":"2021-04-05T08:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webalkans.eu\/?p=6926"},"modified":"2021-08-02T17:16:43","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T15:16:43","slug":"ebrd-and-eu-to-boost-the-competitiveness-of-small-businesses-in-north-macedonia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/en\/news\/ebrd-and-eu-to-boost-the-competitiveness-of-small-businesses-in-north-macedonia\/","title":{"rendered":"EBRD and EU to boost the competitiveness of small businesses in North Macedonia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>New financing by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will boost the competitiveness of local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/north-macedonia.html\"><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>North Macedonia.<\/a> The EBRD is providing a loan of up to \u20ac2.5 million to<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kb.com.mk\/\">Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje<\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>for on-lending to local businesses for investments in production facilities and compliance with EU Directives in the fields of environmental protection, workers\u2019 safety and product quality and safety.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In addition to loans, SMEs benefit from tailor-made technical assistance and know-how for project preparation and implementation and grant incentives worth up to 15 per cent of the total loan amount on successful project completion. The technical assistance and grants are funded by the<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wbedif.eu\/about-wbedif\/\">European Union\u2019s Western Balkans Enterprise Development and Innovation Facility<\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>(WB EDIF).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Raising competitiveness will improve companies&#8217; opportunities not only on the local market but also internationally. At the same time, customers will benefit from improved product quality and broader choice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The EBRD is a major institutional investor in North Macedonia. To date, it has invested \u20ac2 billion through 140 projects in the country.
