The investment package is a step further in the implementation of the<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wbif.eu\/storage\/app\/media\/Library\/economic-and-investment-plan-brochure.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans 2021-2027<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-GB\">. The Skopje wastewater plant is one of the environmental projects selected for financing under <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wbif.eu\/storage\/app\/media\/News\/2022%20Endorsed%20flagships%20February\/WBIF%202022%20Endorsed%20Flagship%20Projects%2024.02.22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Flagship 7 \u2013 Waste and Wastewater Management<\/span><\/strong><\/a><span lang=\"EN-GB\">.<\/span>\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wbif.eu\/storage\/app\/media\/News\/2022%20Endorsed%20flagships%20February\/WBIF%202022%20Endorsed%20Flagship%20Projects%2024.02.22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The EU is financing this project<\/span><\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">with a \u20ac70 million investment grant, complementing a \u20ac35 million European Investment Bank loan, \u20ac30 million European Bank for Reconstruction and Development loan and funds from bilateral donors. As Skopje\u2019s wastewater is currently discharged into the Vardar River without treatment, the project is expected to have significant environmental and public health benefits for the inhabitants of Skopje.
