{"id":3163140,"date":"2021-07-21T09:18:48","date_gmt":"2021-07-21T09:18:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/eu-extends-the-mandates-of-the-eusrs-in-bih-and-kosovo\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T15:16:44","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T15:16:44","slug":"eu-extends-the-mandates-of-the-eusrs-in-bih-and-kosovo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/en\/eu-extends-the-mandates-of-the-eusrs-in-bih-and-kosovo\/","title":{"rendered":"EU extends the mandates of the EUSRs in BiH and Kosovo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n\n<span lang=\"EN-GB\">On 19 July<\/span> <span lang=\"EN-GB\">t<\/span>he Council extended the mandates of the EU special representatives (EUSRs) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Kosovo for two years, <strong>until<\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><strong>31 August 2023<\/strong><b>.<\/b>\n\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\nThe EU S<span lang=\"EN-GB\">pecial <\/span>R<span lang=\"EN-GB\">epresentative<\/span> in<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/strong><b>,<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><strong>Johann Sattler<\/strong>, was first appointed on 8 August 2019, with the task of contributing to policy objectives<span lang=\"EN-GB\"> such as <\/span>continuing progress in the Stabilisation and Association Process ensuring a stable, viable, peaceful, multi-ethnic and united country that cooperates peacefully with its neighbours, and ensuring that the country is irreversibly on track towards EU membership.\n\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\n<span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span>\n\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\nThe EU<span lang=\"EN-GB\"> Special Representative<\/span> in<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Kosovo<\/strong><b>,<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><strong>Tom\u00e1\u0161 Szunyog<\/strong>, was appointed on 1 September 2020, with the task of contributing to <span lang=\"EN-GB\">similar p<\/span>olicy objectives <span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u2013 <\/span>promoting a stable, viable, peaceful, democratic and multi-ethnic Kosovo, and supporting Kosovo\u2019s European <span lang=\"EN-GB\">future<\/span> and <span lang=\"EN-GB\">harmonisation<\/span> with the EU in line with the region<span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u2019s future prospects<\/span> and in accordance with the Stabilisation and Association Agreement.\n\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\nEU special representatives promote the EU\u2019s policies and interests in specific regions and countries, and work on issues of particular concern or interest for the EU. They play an active role in efforts to consolidate peace, stability and the rule of law.
