This milestone initiative aims to accelerate\u202fsustainable industrial development, aligning with\u202fEU environmental standards\u202fand the\u202fGreen Agenda for the Western Balkans.<\/p>\n<p>Backed by a\u202f\u20ac3.6 million EU grant\u202fthrough the\u202fWestern Balkans Investment Framework, the programme will\u202fdemonstrate the feasibility of EIPs through four pilot projects, showcasing how industries can\u202fcut pollution, optimize resources, and boost economic performance. The\u202f\u0160abac Greenfield EIP\u202fwill serve as a\u202fflagship model\u202ffor low-carbon industrial development, helping the region\u202ftransition away from fossil fuels\u202fand strengthen its competitiveness in EU markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHosting Serbia\u2019s first Eco-Industrial Park is a proud moment for our city. This initiative strengthens our local economy and sets a precedent for sustainable growth,\u201d\u202fsaid\u202fAleksandar Paji\u0107, Mayor of \u0160abac.<\/p>\n<p>The\u202fEIP initiative, led by IFC in partnership with the EU, seeks to\u202fattract sustainable investments\u202fand integrate the region into\u202fEuropean value chains. Alongside pilot projects, it also includes developing\u202fpolicy frameworks\u202fand engaging the\u202fprivate sector\u202fto drive investments in green technologies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project is a major step in the Western Balkans\u2019 green transition,\u201d\u202fsaid\u202fPlamena Halacheva, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia.\u202f\u201cBy launching the Eco-Industrial Park initiative, we are driving innovation and advancing the circular economy as part of our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scaling Up Sustainable Industry<\/p>\n<p>The\u202f\u0160abac Greenfield EIP\u202fis one of two pilot projects in Serbia, alongside\u202fMIND Park Brownfield EIP, which focuses on\u202fretrofitting an existing industrial zone\u202fwith sustainable solutions. In total,\u202ffive pilot projects\u202facross the Western Balkans will serve as benchmarks for the region\u2019s\u202fsustainable industrial transformation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether with the EU and local authorities, we are building a scalable model that unlocks long-term investment opportunities while addressing environmental challenges,\u201d\u202fsaid\u202fNicolas Marquier, IFC Regional Manager for the Western Balkans.<\/p>\n<p>This collaboration highlights the\u202fWestern Balkans\u2019 potential\u202fto lead in sustainable industry and attract green investments, paving the way
