{"id":1041677,"date":"2023-02-16T14:14:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-16T13:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/?p=1041677"},"modified":"2023-02-16T14:14:00","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T13:14:00","slug":"eu-energy-support-of-e165-million-to-help-most-vulnerable-households-and-smes-in-serbia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/en\/news\/eu-energy-support-of-e165-million-to-help-most-vulnerable-households-and-smes-in-serbia\/","title":{"rendered":"EU energy support of \u20ac165 million to help most vulnerable households and SMEs in Serbia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The EU Ambassador in Serbia<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Emanuele Giaufret<\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and President of Serbia<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107<\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>witnessed today the signing of a \u20ac165 million budget support to fight the energy crisis in Serbia.<\/span> <span lang=\"\">With this EU aid, announced by President of the European Commission<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Ursula von der Leyen<\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>in October 2022, vulnerable households and SMEs in Serbia will pay less for energy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The agreement was signed by the Minister for European Integration,<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Tanja Mi\u0161\u010devi\u0107<\/strong>, and the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia,<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Plamena Hala\u010deva<\/strong><b>.<\/b> The event was attended by the Minister of Finance<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Sini\u0161a Mali<\/strong><b>,<\/b> Minister of Mining and Energy<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Dubravka Djedovi\u0107<\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and General Director of &#8220;Elektromre\u017ea Srbije&#8221;<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>Jelena Mateji\u0107<\/strong>. This immediate support is the first tranche of the ambitious \u20ac1 billion EU Energy Support Package to help the Western Balkans face the current energy crisis and promote its clean energy transition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>\u20ac500 million for six Western Balkan partners<\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>will provide direct funds to the region\u2019s economies through budget-support measures:<\/span> <span lang=\"\">To balance the increase in energy prices for businesses and the energy sector, To keep energy prices affordable, especially for vulnerable households and To support policy measures to accelerate the green energy transition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The second part of the package &#8211;<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>another \u20ac500 million<\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>&#8211; will cover priority flagship investments to diversify energy supplies, boost renewable energy and improve energy efficiency.
