{"id":1030950,"date":"2023-02-03T11:29:50","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T10:29:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/?p=1030950"},"modified":"2023-02-03T11:29:50","modified_gmt":"2023-02-03T10:29:50","slug":"eu-supports-the-final-section-of-the-trans-balkan-electricity-corridor-in-serbia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/en\/news\/eu-supports-the-final-section-of-the-trans-balkan-electricity-corridor-in-serbia\/","title":{"rendered":"EU supports the final section of the Trans-Balkan Electricity Corridor in Serbia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">On 23 January, the Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Dubravka \u0110edovi\u0107, the Director of the German Development Bank (<\/span><span lang=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kfw-entwicklungsbank.de\/International-financing\/KfW-Entwicklungsbank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KfW<\/a><\/span><span lang=\"\">) office in Belgrade, R\u00fcdiger Hartmann, the Minister of European Integration Tanja Mi\u0161\u010devi\u0107 and the Director of &#8220;Elektromre\u017ea Srbije&#8221; Jelena Mateji\u0107 signed an \u20ac8.9 million investment for the implementation of the 84-km section of the Trans-Balkan Electricity Corridor in Serbia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The EU has contributed to the project with a WBIF grant of \u20ac11 million, complemented by a KfW loan of \u20ac30 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The section involves the construction of a 400-kV interconnecting transmission line from the Bajina Ba\u0161ta substation to the borders with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The start of works is scheduled in early 2025 &#8211; after the construction on the third section connecting Obrenovac to Bajina Ba\u0161ta has started, &#8211; and completion can be expected in 2027. One hundred twenty kilometres of the Trans-Balkan Corridor on Serbian territory have already been built, from Pan\u010devo to the border with Romania and from Kragujevac to Kraljevo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The Trans-Balkan Electricity Corridor is part of the EU \u20ac1 billion\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbif.eu\/storage\/app\/media\/Library\/12.%20Economic%20and%20Investment%20Plan\/WBIF%20Energy%20Support%20Package%20%20for%20the%20Western%20Balkans%202022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Energy Support Package for the Western Balkans<\/a><\/span><span lang=\"\">, launched by President von der Leyen on 6 December on the occasion of the EU-Western
