{"id":1030835,"date":"2023-02-03T10:13:33","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T09:13:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/?p=1030835"},"modified":"2023-02-03T10:13:33","modified_gmt":"2023-02-03T09:13:33","slug":"a-growing-connection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/en\/news\/a-growing-connection\/","title":{"rendered":"A Growing Connection"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">BULGARTRANSGAZ company <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">organised<\/span><span lang=\"\"> a high-level event in Sofia <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">on 1 February<\/span><span lang=\"\"> to celebrate the milestone of launching the construction works of the &#8220;Gas Interconnection Bulgaria-Serbia&#8221; (IBS). The President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev and the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, together with the Ministers of Energy of both countries and the Ambassador of the European Union to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret attended the event and participated in a walk along the route of the interconnection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The new gas interconnector will connect the existing Serbian network in Ni\u0161 with the Bulgarian network in the capital Sofia, stretching for\u00a0<strong>109 km on the Serbian side.<\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>The part of the project on Serbian territory is being financed partly through EU grants, <strong>\u20ac<\/strong>49.6 million, and <strong>\u20ac<\/strong>25 million of a favourable loan from the European Investment Bank.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The works on the Serbian territory on the interconnector started in January 2022, and works on the Bulgarian were launched on <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">1 February<\/span><span lang=\"\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"\">The Bulgarian part IBS is a<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.ec.europa.eu\/topics\/infrastructure\/projects-common-interest_en\">Project of Common Interest (PCI)<\/a><\/span><span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><span lang=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"\">that has been<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>co-funded by the EU under the Connecting Europe Facility Energy programme with <strong>\u20ac<\/strong>27.6 million. The EU support will contribute to constructing the total length of the gas interconnector on Bulgarian territory (62 km), from the town of Novi Iskar to the Bulgarian-Serbian border. Besides the gas pipeline network, other technological facilities will be built, such as pigging facilities, valve assemblies, two automated gas-regulating stations (at Slivnitsa and Dragoman), and a
