{"id":1025739,"date":"2023-01-27T14:39:17","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T13:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/?p=1025739"},"modified":"2023-01-27T14:39:17","modified_gmt":"2023-01-27T13:39:17","slug":"eu-and-ebrd-support-renovation-wave-in-serbia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webalkans.eu\/en\/news\/eu-and-ebrd-support-renovation-wave-in-serbia\/","title":{"rendered":"EU and EBRD support renovation wave in Serbia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">T<\/span>he\u00a0European Union<span lang=\"EN-GB\"> and t<\/span>he European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are helping Serbia to improve the energy efficiency of its public buildings with a \u20ac14 million financial package.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The package, which includes a \u20ac12 million EBRD loan and a \u20ac2 million grant from the EU, will help finance energy efficient retrofit measures in 80 public buildings, including education, healthcare, administrative, sports and cultural buildings, across 20 municipalities in Vojvodina. These buildings will be renovated with thermal insulation, new windows, upgraded heating, ventilation and cooling systems, and energy efficient lighting.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The improvements are expected to contribute to primary energy reduction of 53 per cent and annual CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0emission reductions of 56 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In addition to \u20ac2 million grant from the EU, the project also benefits from close to \u20ac2 million grants for technical cooperation, provided by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and Italy through Central European Initiative (CEI).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Buildings account for around 34 per cent of energy consumption in Serbia. Renovations can help lower consumption and CO<sub>2<\/sub><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>emissions, but significant effort is needed to stimulate and prioritise these investments,
