'EU for Circular Economy and Green Growth – Waste Infrastructure in Albania' supports the development of a modern, EU-compliant waste management infrastructure in the Gjirokastra/South Vlora and Kukës waste zones. Implemented by the French Development Agency (AFD), the project contributes to reducing the environmental and health impact of solid waste while improving the living conditions of approximately 190,000 inhabitants in the targeted regions.

The action focuses on strengthening regional waste management systems by investing in infrastructure, equipment and technical assistance. It promotes recycling, reuse and resource efficiency, while reducing landfill dependency, greenhouse gas emissions and marine pollution. The project also supports municipalities and waste management companies in operating new infrastructure in line with circular economy principles. The intervention forms part of the broader EU programme 'EU for Circular Economy and Green Growth' in Albania and contributes to the implementation of the National Waste Management Plan (2020 - 2035) and the country’s alignment with EU environmental acquis.
